Kitaygorod the first time in written documents mentioned in 1667 as an outpost to protect against Tatar raids. On the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region, from the mouth of Aurelie on its right bank is fortification system, which went down in history as the Ukrainian line. Kitaygorod became a part of it. Here was one of 57 redoubts built on the 285-kilometer line of defense. Ukrainian beautiful examples of religious architecture in the middle of the XVIII survive till present: Sviato-Uspenskaya Church (1754) - the only action of the church bell tower of St. Barbara (1756) and Nicholas' Church (1757).
